Pottorff model ECD-545 released with new AMCA ratings making it the BEST IN THE INDUSTRY!

Pottorff has re-released its 5-inch horizontal blade, wind-driven rain louver with updated AMCA CRP ratings. It now has a Class A rating at a core velocity of 886 fpm for the 29 mph, 3 in/hr simulated AMCA Wind-Driven Rain Test. It now has a Class B rating at a core velocity of 984 fpm for the 50 mph, 8 in/hr test. This is the best rating in the industry at both points for a stationary horizontal blade louver. The ECD-545 efficiently provides unparalleled protection with only 0.15" of water pressure loss at a free area velocity of 980 fpm.

Hospitality Event a Success!

Pottorff held a hospitality event at the Dallas World Aquarium in conjunction with the 65th AHR Expo in Dalla, Texas.We had about 275 registered guests who enjoyed viewing a Mayan habitat complete with a jaguar and a Mayan performance dance troupe. As well as enjoying the flora and fauna of a Pre-Columbian culture, our representatives and their guests were able to view and get information on our SR-99 Tunnel Damper and EDD-637 dual-drainable louver.

Our President, Pat Cockrum, has been elected as Treasurer to the AMCA International Executive Committee for the 2012-2013 season. He has been on the board for several years and his previous role has been as Secretary.

Largest Dynamic Horizontal Curtain Fire Damper in the Industry!

When exceptional performance and cost-savings on the job are equally important, the Pottorff VFD-10D curtain Fire Damper surpasses the competition with the largest single section for both vertical and horizontal applications. Pottorff is the only manufacturer with a UL listed VFD-10D horizontal mount fire damper at 4,000 fpm velocity.

UL 555 testing was performed in Pottorff's state-of-the-art lab following the ANSI/AMCA 500-D test standard. The Pottorff VFD-10D curtain Fire Damper is approved for horizontal mount up to 2,000 fpm velocity and 4 in. wg. and up to 36" x 36" multiple sections at 4,000 fpm velocity and 4 in. wg.

Miami Dade Approval for EFD-637-MD and ECD-545-MD

These tests allow single section louver heights up to 144". They also allows single section louvers on both models to be installed in concrete,wood and steel beam. It eliminates the need for expensive epoxy anchors in the concrete mounting.

This new testing now allows single section louvers to be installed with aluminum sleeves.

The testing for the EFD-637-MD and the ECD-545-MD models was done at Architectural Testing Inc. in Southlake, Texas. 5 louver sections measuring 48" x 144" were subjected to a static test of up to 225 PSF per TAS 202-94. They were then bombarded with a 9 pound 2" x 4" at 34 MPH at multiple points along its construction per TAS 201-94. The louvers were then cycle tested over 600 times with both negative and positive pressure up to 188 PSF per TAS 203-94.

Addition of Building Information Modeling Files for Pottorff Products

Revit 2011 Building Information Files are now available for our product line on the Pottorff website. 2010 and 2009 files are also available. These files are also available on the Smartbim website. Revit product model files are single database files. They are intelligent 3D objects used with a parametric change engine in a relational architectural database.

Pottorff SPECs Update 5.3.0.0. Introducing the RD-10 Square/Rectangular Remote Powered Damper is designed for those situations where access to manually adjust a balancing damper is difficult. For those applications requiring airfoil bladed industrial control dampers we are introducing our new CD-90 Series. CD-91 and CD 92 dampers employ double skin airfoil blades and a rugged flange frame. For those applications specifying multi-bladed dampers having vertical blades, we now have our model FSD-152V fire/smoke damper and our model SD-152V smoke damper. In addition to the vertical blades, these dampers are also rated for a dynamic closure rate up to 4000 fpm with a maximum temperature rating of 250 degrees F. The FSD-152V has a maximum size of 48" wide by 32" high. The SD-152V has a maximum size of 96" wide by 72" high or 192" wide x 36" high.
